| What is MeOnGo? What will MeOnGo do for me? |
| The MeOnGo, free mobile email service, is designed with the intention of allowing you to access your existing mailboxes on your mobile phones. With the help of this service you can access your emails on your phone. Hence, you no longer have to look for the nearest cyber cafe or computer to view or reply to your emails. The MeOnGo service will enable you to read emails from your Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail and other mailboxes on your mobile. You can also access emails from POP3 or IMAP based mailboxes too. The solution lets you configure the mailboxes you want to access through your cellphone. Once you have configured the mailboxes you are not required to give username and password each time you want to access your emails. Moreover, you can configure more than one mailbox and access your emails from multiple mailboxes using a single MeOnGo account. |
| What do I require to use MeOnGo service? |
| Initially you need a web browser to register yourself to use this service (you already have that since you are already reading this page). To access emails from your mobile, you need a mobile phone that is capable of browsing and receiving SMS / Text Messages. MeOnGo works with most mobile browsers over GPRS, EDGE,CDMA or 3G. |
| What type of mobile devices does MeOnGo support? |
| MeOnGo works with ANY mobile device that has a browser and is capable of accessing internet websites (mobile internet). MeOnGo services works as a mobile webmail designed for WAP and supports versions 1.1 and above (both WML and XHTML) |
What charges do I have to pay to use MeOnGo?
How much will this service cost me? |
| There is no charge for the MeOnGo services. However, depending on your mobile service provider you may have to pay the applicable charges for your browsing usage. |
| Which email services can I access using MeOnGo? |
Currently, you can have mail on phone, from the following web-based email services:
- Hotmail
- Yahoo
- Gmail
- Rediffmail
- Indiatimes
Additionally, you can read emails from any mailbox providing POP3 / IMAP access (the type provided by most ISP across the globe). |

How can I sign up for MeOnGo?
What is the first step in using MeOnGo? |
| Getting started is easy. Just sign-up for an account using the MeOnGo website. Depending on whether you are signing-up for yourself or your enterprise, there is a simple step-by-step process that will help you create you account, verify your mailbox connectivity and mobile number(s).
After successful completion of the sign-up process, you will receive the necessary access information on your mobile and via email. |
| What is the difference between Individual Users and Enterprises? |
| MeOnGo services are available in two flavours... one for individual users and another specifically serving the needs of enterprises. Individual user accounts are created and managed by the user and can be used to access their personal emails via MeOnGo. Enterprise user accounts are created and managed by the enterprise admin - who configures the mail server connectivity and authorizes their users to access MeOnGo - allowing them to access enterprise emails from their mobiles.
In terms of functionality and features... both flavours are comparable. |
| What is involved in the sign-up process for Individuals? |
| It's a simple 3-step process... (a) start with providing basic information name, email etc., (b) next, tell us about your email mailbox that you wish to access on your mobile, and (c) provide your mobile no. We will verify connectivity to your mailbox and your mobile no. and you will be all set to get emails on your mobile. |
| What is involved in the sign-up process for Enterprises? |
| Signing up your enterprise for MeOnGo is quite easy... (a) start with providing basic information company name, admin user etc., (b) next tell us how to connect to your enterprise mail server, (c) then you have the option to personalize the MeOnGo mobile interface for your users, and (d) last but not the least, you will need to provide details of your enterprise users who are authorized to use MeOnGo services. We will verify the mobile no. of each of the authorized user and they will be all set to start using MeOnGo's mobile mail service. |
| Is there a limit on the maximum no. of users that can be authorized under an Enterprise? |
| Yes, currently this limit is set for 50. Should you need to authorize more, we recommend you create yet another Enterprise account and authorize more users. |
| I am giving my email and password? How safe are both? |
| Do not worry - your passwords are absolutely safe. Your passwords are encrypted and stored in a database, which lies behind a secured firewall. We have systems in place which ensure that your passwords cannot be accessed by anyone. Your passwords will only be used to connect to your mailbox on your behalf and as per your request. |
| How safe is my personal information? |
| You can rest assured that we will not share your email or any other personal information with any other entity-be it mass mailers or even within our organization for promotional purposes. Our privacy policy is in line with best-practices in the industry. |
| I have deleted the message containing the verification code. How can I get the verification code again? |
Follow the steps mentioned below to get the verification code on your mobile again:
- Connect to the URL, which we had sent to you in the email to confirm your mobile number through verification code.
- On the Confirmation page, click "Resend Verification Code" button.
A new verification code will be sent to you as an SMS / Text Message. Use this code to confirm your mobile number. |
Do I need to know my mail server address and other technical stuff?
How can I know what is my POP3 / IMAP server? |
| MeOnGo makes it easy for you to connect to your mail server - simply enter your email address and password and our mail server wizard takes over. In the rare instance our mail server wizard can't figure out your setting, it will prompt you for some help. In most cases, if you are already using an email client like Outlook or Outlook Express - all the information you need can be found right there (Tools > Accounts). |
| Why am I getting the message "Cannot connect to your mailbox"? |
| Check the email address and password you have provided - keep in mind that password would be case sensitive. Also, if you are connecting via POP3/IMAP ensure that you have specified the right port nos. and security (under "Advanced"). Enterprises that have their mail server behind a firewall... please ensure that the relevant POP3/IMAP ports are open. |

| What is the "Save Password" option on the page where I enter my password? |
| If you select 'Yes' in "Save Password" option, the browser will remember your password and you need not give it the next time you login.
Note: Your mobile browser should accept Cookies for the use of "Remember Me" option. |
| How many mailboxes can I access using MeOnGo? |
| At present the maximum number of mailboxes you can access is 3. |
| Can I change my mailbox password using MeOnGo? |
| No, you cannot change the password of your mailbox using the MeOnGo. However, if you have changed the password of your mailbox, you can update the same in MeOnGo. |
| If I change my mailbox password, how will MeOnGo know about it? |
| The MeOnGo service has no way of automatically detecting changed passwords. When MeOnGo runs into a "incorrect password" problem it will alert you. You should update MeOnGo with the new password using the "Edit Mailbox" option |
| How can I add more mailboxes? |
| The mobile interface of MeOnGo has the necessary options for allowing you to add mailboxes. Similar to the web interface, all you will need to provide is the email address and associated password. At this point, the web interface does not allow for adding additional mailboxes. |
| Can I delete a configured mailbox? |
| Sure, you can. The mobile interface of MeOnGo has the necessary options for allowing you to delete one or more of your configured mailboxes. |
| Can I reply to the mail I am viewing? |
Yes, while you are viewing a message you have the option to Reply or Reply All to it. You will be able to write your reply message and send it from your mobile. |
| Can I forward the mail I am viewing? |
| Yes, while you are viewing a message you have the option to Forward it. |
Can I delete emails I am reading?
Can I delete more than one mail in one go? |
Yes, you have two ways to delete emails. While viewing the list of emails (Inbox) you can click on the "garbage can" icon next to the mail header. While viewing the message you also have an option to Delete that particular email.
Currently you can only delete one email at a time and cannot delete multiple mails in one go. |
| Can I view attachments to my emails? |
| Yes, MeOnGo can also handle email attachments for you. While you are viewing a message, the email attachments would be listed at the top of the screen. To view a particular attachment, click on its link. MeOnGo support most popular attachment file types including PDF, DOC, RTF,PPT, ZIP, JGP, GIF, BMP, PNG, HTML, TXT, etc. |
